teaching:

I’ve been teaching at the college and community college level since 2009 . I can honestly say that I would not have accomplished any of my research (and probably very little of my creative writing) without the inspiration of my students. Their directness, innovative voices and perseverance keep my ideas on attention, learning and language fresh.

I currently serve as Co-Director of First Year Writing and Assistant Professor at the CUNY New York City College of Technology (City Tech). We have developed OER Model Course Curricula to encourage student engagement and transfer for our First Year Writing Program. You may use any part of these if you wish, but please acknowledge City Tech in your materials.

The City Tech Model Course curricula and support materials can be found here.

My Academic CV can be found here.

The procrastination station:

Over at City Tech’s Office of First Year Writing, we’ve also recently developed a new website based partially on my boredom research, as well as other research on education and emotion. It’s called The Procrastination Station and it’s meant to help students and faculty understand the emotions that block engagement. It has exercises, lesson plans, readings, and, you know— an insta.

Again, feel free to use these resources, but please acknowledge Shauna Chung, Carrie Hall and Rebecca Mazumdar from The New York City College of Technology when you do.
